Whole Foods Coming To Chicago’s Englewood Neighborhood

Arguably ’s most crime ridden neighborhood is set to welcome a grocery store. Full service grocery stores such as are extremely rare in the inner city neighborhoods of Chicago, and as such is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood.

The new store modeled after a prototype store in Detroit is somewhat smaller than the average Whole Foods store and will focus on healthy everyday essentials. This new oasis of healthy foods will be a welcome addition to the existing neighborhood stores masquerading as grocery stores, featuring mostly chips, candy, soda and canned goods.

Retail attracts retail and like attracts like, which has been a problem in the past, noting the abundance of liquor, dollar stores and gas station convenience stores in the neighborhood.  Hopefully the addition of this new Whole Foods store will attract other quality grocery stores as well as other quality retail stores.
