BBQ Rub Recipie

I have been experimenting with this recipe for years and decided to share it with all of you.  Naturally you can use it with any type of pork, it even works well on chicken.

The mixture does have a bite to it, so if you wish to calm it down a little, cut back on the chili powder.

For the Rub:

  • 2 Tablespoons each; granulated sugar. Brown sugar, salt
  • 4 Teaspoons ground paprika
  • 1 Tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 ¼ Teaspoons each; pepper, mustard powder, onion powder, garlic powder, cornstarch
  • 1 ½ Teaspoons ground red pepper
  • ¾ Teaspoon ground cinnamon

Combine all the above ingredients in a bowl ( I often double the batch) and mix well. Cover all surfaces of the selected meat generously and wrap it in Saran Wrap, placing it in the refrigerator for a minimum of 4 hours, overnight is best.

In the morning unwrap the meat and place it on the carefully prepared grill to let it slow cook.

You can sprinkle a small amount of the rub on the meat just before serving for some added flavor.
